(905) 8782341C5:27 Fdx: (905)8762364 B O O K N OIW !* We ran from Sullivan County to Delaware (Wednesday). We were ail in awe of the scenery in the mountains. Looking down at the trees cbanging colours made us forget about al the his we ran through yesterday As we get further up tbe moun- tains we now see deer wandering in the woods. It is breathtaking and peaceful. Our mun today was flat at the start. As we continued to recover [rom yesterday's his, we al thought we were in the clear of any three-mile lifts today. We were wrong. At about the 15-km mark we were faced with two large huIs. At this point 1 could- nt feel my feet. Just when we wanted to give up, we ail pushed ourselves to the fin- ish line. Natalie and ber family have a good friend Sylvia Pitt. Sylvia bas been following the mun and encouraging us every step of the way Colorectal cancer is close to Sylvias heart. She lost ber husband, Cass, to, the disease a few years back. Today, Natalie dedicated ber mun to him. Cass was watching over us ladies as we pushed our way up the last two hilîs. After our mun today we came back to Villa Roma. We decided that we would relax by joining in on a game of bingo with about 60 seniors. We thought that we could eamn some more money for te Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada. Bingo is definitely not our game and well just stick to running. The bingo brought back many memo- ries of my Baba (grandma) who lost her battie to colon cancer. She too ignored al of ber symptoms until it was too late. My Baba was instrumental in my life while growing Up. 1 bave many fond memories of the times 1 spent with my Baba. I get a chuck- le today as I think of how sbe would always worry about mc ptaying sports and being abit0f a "tomboy' i will neyer for- get how she would sit me down and teach me how to knit and do the thmngs that lit- te ladies" enjoyed doing. With tis being said, she was always one of my biggesc fans at soccer games and basketball games. Wben my Baba was diagnosed with cancer, ber rcacuion was so different from my mom's. My Baba accepted ber illness, but just didn't have the strength to figbt ber disease. 1 would go over to visit ber and many times she didnt have the strengtb to even open ber eyes. 1 stili live with the pain of seemng my Baba have to suffer as she did. Although I miss ber vety mucb, I thank God for reuniting ber back with my Gigi (grandfa- ther). After she lost my Gigi, she was neyer the same. Deep down 1 know that she longed for the day that they could be together again. Love, the Sophies Run Team.
