As lus son James explaîned, he was a buulder of structures wùth bis construc- tion company, a builder of roads as transportation minister, and a builder of communes as a philantbropist and volunteer. "My dad was a builder. He loved to buuld tbings," James saîd. On Saturday, James Snow passed away in his sleep at Milton District Hospital, surrounded by bis family He was 79. Lt was the day of bis 56th wedding anniversary witb bus wîfe, Barbara. Altbough Miltonians are mouming Snow's passing, it doesn't take long for the smiles to emerge, as residents remember Snows remarkable commit- ment to his family and community. As one of bis last contributions to Milton, Snow - together witb Barbara .- made a $500,000 donation to Milton District Hospitals CT Scanner cam- paign. "HeUI be missed by this community," said Mayor Gord Krantz, who said he counted Snow a friend, as well as a fel- low politician. There's no doubt politics formed a large part of Snows life. In an interview with the Champion last year, Snow spoke of bus rote in the public eye. "The higblight of my life was tbe 18 years t spent in govemnment as an MPP," he said. Snow was elected MPP for Halton East in 1967 and later for Oakville, and served as tbe Progressive Conservative MPP for 18 years, being re-elected four times.
