"With linuited staff, our volunteers provide rnucb-needed support in all our programs. We couldn't do it witb- out thern," said Christina Mackay, HWP's special events and volunteer co- ordiniator. Those interested in finding out about what is involved in volunteering at the 5belters must attend one of two upcoming orientation nights. The next information sessions xviii take place September 16 and 17 fromn 6 to 8:30 p.rn. Before tbeir first day on site at IVE? accepted volunteers are required to pro- vide documentation on a current police background cbeck, a stage 1 tuberculo- sis test and tbree references. AIl of H-WP's shelter volunteers are females; accepted mule volunteers cun belp uit public events, said Mackay H-WP bas 20 full-time workers, 15 10 20 part-time and relief staff, and about 60 volunteers, more tban haîf of whom are used uit events or on an on-caîl basis. To date in 2008, l-WP bas received just under 1,000 bours of fate belp from is volusiteers.
