The event, which will run from Sunday to Wednesday in Ottawa, will be attended by Mayor Gord Krantz, Ward 1 Councillor Brian Penman, Ward 2 councillors Mike Boughton and Greg Nelson, Ward 3 Councillor Cindy Lunau, Ward 4 Councillor Wendy Schau and Wards 2 and 4 Councillor Colin Best. Topics on the agenda at the confer- ence will include everything from sus- tainable building practices to waste diversion to community recreation. Premier Dalton McGuinty, Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory and NDP Leader Howard Hampton will also be in attendance to address the crowd. Krantz told the Champion he will be involved in meetings with the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and Minister of Transportation to discuss things like infrastructure funding and development charges. "if you want to have an impact on the Province, this (conference) is the place most municipalities go to get their point across," said Krantz. The Town budgeted $14,000 this year for the council members to attend the conference. Mattamy building more homes Another phase of the large subdivi- sion Mattamy Homes is building in the town's west end bas been given the go- ahead. At its meeting Monday night, town council endorsed a zoning change to make way for 368 more homes - 316 single detached houses and 52 town- homes - on the property located on the south side of Derry Road, east of Tremaine Road. The subdivision is being approved in phases due to water and sewer capacity limitations.
