At its meeting last week, regional council approved considening a pur- chase of service agreement witb Peer Outreacb Support Services and Education (POSSE) as part of the 2008 budget process, meaning it would pro- vide much-needed funds for the group. POSSE, a youth-driven harmn reduc- tion and human rigbts initiative servng north Halton, is expected to nia out of money and options for funding in Marcb 2008 and has turned to the Region for help. The organization needs about $1 25,000 a year to keep operating, witb that number going up to around $300000 if its services were expanded into south Halton. Preliminary 2008 budget work is already underway at the Region and will wrap up in December wben the finalized budget is considered by com- mittee and council.
