Held to two goals apiece, neither the Bishop Reding Royals or E.C. Drury Spart.ans were able to advan&ë pgg43ool play in the 'AAA and 'AA provincial champi- onships respectively Despite facîng an unfavourable schedule in Windsor - ith games a mere two hours apart on both Monday and Tuesday - Reding was still in contention for a quarter- final berth heading mbt its round-robin finale agaînsi Torontos Upper C2anada College. But an overaîl lack of finish and a deplet- ed lineup, the result of a few injuries suffered earlier in the tournameni, proved too much for the Royals to overcome - as they feul 4- 0 to the unbeaten Blues. The fact that it was BR's second gante of the day and just the lirsi for Upper Canada no doubt factoredi into the decîsive ouîcome, although head coach Fernando Costa wasn't dwelling on unfortunate circumstances upon his long nide back, to Milton Tuesday aftemoon. "Yes we were down to 10 players and the schcdule didn'î rcally lavour us, but boiiom line is we had many opportunities in every game and just couldn't capitalize." he said following bis senior boys' second trip to OFSAA in as many years - having claimed 'AS provincial gold last spring in Si. Cathanines. "And the faci is they (IJpper Canada) are a very good team." Reding strung together three straight lies before iheir tourniament-ending defeai, with Adam Stjepanovic and Eros Olazabal dent- ing the twinc in 1-1 draws wvith Wîndsors Riverside Rehels and Kanatas Ail Saints Avalanche. A second-round clash with the St. lgnatius Falcons ended in a scoreless sialemate. While disappointed about the early exit, Costa was quite pleased with the efforts of a number of players, including a highly versa- admirable job as an impromptu replacement for both sweeper Tuia Nourkav and goalie Alessandro Famele. Said Costa, "He would have played anywhere 1 asked him to.' Captain Chris Canas and workhorse Dane DaSilva-Horvat also gave standout per- formances in Windsor. Not faring any better in Timmins, Dnury came away from round-robin play witb just one victory - a second-round 2-0 dectsion over Peterboroughs Holy Cross Hurrcanes. Nick Ronan and Rishawn Simpson did the sconing in the victory which was fol- lowed the next morning by a 6-0 humbling at the hands of the eventual silver medalist Archbishop Denis O'Connor Chargers of Aa. see DRURY'S on page A22 CROSSW NDS GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB 6621 Guelph Lime, Burlingron, Ontario (Just soubli of Derry Rd.)
