The explorer, who led the torsE team to sait the Northwest Passage, took the stage at the annual BelllChairmari's Breakfast on the Environment last Friday to wow the audi- ence wîth stories of his travels and deliver important envi- ronentol messages. As someone whos competed on World Cup ski evenis, Macinnis used racing as the theme for bis talk before the large crowd of students, business professionals and local council members at Rattlesnake Point Golf Club. He spoke of tbe various races be feels society bas been a part of, like a race to fly, race to the molon and now a race to save the planet. "Tbings are cbanging (in the environment) and we bave -somre deadlines we need to strive towards," he saod. 'We have to have those deadtines that force us to make thongs happen." He pointed to Californta Governor Arnold Scbwarzenegger as a key player in the race to save the plan- et, since the movie-star-tumed-politician brought the Global Warming Solutions Act onto effect last year.
