The company, Menitor Suspension Systems, is located on Steeles Avenue East - just south of Martin Street - and makes steel products for the auto- motive industry The fine was imposed at a Burlington courthouse February 26 after Menitor pleaded guilty to violating tbe Occupational Health and Safety Act. On December 23, 2005, a worker was greasing bearings on a conveyor as part of preventative maintenance when bis foot got caught and was pulled into tbe conveyor, reported the Ontario Ministry of Labour. A supervisor tried to shut off the power, but couldn't because the switch had protective gates around it. The supervisor then tnied using an emner- gency stop button, to no avail. Finally, he pulled a disconnect switch Iocated 80 feet away and the conveyor stopped.
