About 15 residents met with Town officials and rural councillors at the Nassagaweya Community Centre to view the concept before it's was ten- dered out, said Milton park technol- ogist Lisa VanderVliet. "It received positive feedback from the residents and there were no major concerns as these were miti- gated into this preferred concept," she said. The final concept incorporated many of the items that were favoured by residents with an emphasis placed on "buffering of the adjacent homes" in Churchill Estates, said VanderVliet. Items that were incorporated into the final concept include: new access; improved parking (87 spots); a new asphalt multi-use trail system; a play structure with swings, slides and climbing apparatus; a covered shel- ter; native trces and shrubs; property linc fencing and, il the budget allows, fo H eag MDH CT SCANNER FUNDRAISER L foCALL TODAY NO REFERRL NECESSARY: Audiology Centre & Dispensary 905.693.HEAR (4327) PUTTING OFF HAVING YOUR HEARING TESTED? VanderVliet said the next steps will be to tender the project out and have an arborist assess the site in order for work to begin this spring. "The Town will now proceed with the detail drawings so that the project can be tendered out to interested bid- ders within the coming weeks," she said. Concurrent with this, the Town will have an arborist assess the exist- ing trees and hedgerows in order to ensure that dead trees or branches are removed as a safeguard for park users and the adjacent private prop- erties. The arborist will also make rec- ommendations on measures to ensure existing trees remain healthy and aren't adversely affected by any changes to the park. Originally, it was anticipated that the park would be built out over three phases. However, under coun- cil's directive, phase one and two will be combined in 2007 (completion set for spring 2008). Phase three is cur- rently slated for 2011. For more information on the Brookville Park expansion, contact VanderVliet at (905) 878-7252, ext. 2186. Audiolonist
