Appointed for a four-year term, these groups tackle important issues such as the development of community services, waste management, and water conservation. These appointments give Halton residents from a variety of backgrounds the opportunity to contribute their skills and perspective to enhance the quality of life in our community. Halton Regional Council wishes to ensure that its Boards and Committees reflect the diverse nature of its community, and invites all residents of Halton to consider these opportunities. A separate application form must be submitted for each committee for which you wish to apply. Application forms are available on our website www.halton.ca, or from the Office of the Regional Clerk, Halton Region, 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville during business hours from 8:30 arm. to 4:30 p.m. Completed application forms must be received at the Office of the Regional iClerk no later than January 8th, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. Completed forms may be submitted on-line, by mail or by fax to 905-825-8838. Monica Wallenfels Regional Clerk Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park Community Liaison Advisory Committee Purpose: To provide community input into the ongoing operation and physical improvements to the Outer Harbour Marina and Lighthouse Restaurant as a component of the Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park. Members Needed: 5 - 8 citizens representing a cross-section of the community Meetings: Held quarterly Contact: Kathy Kielt, Liaison Technician, ext. 7200 Development Charges Àdvisory Committee Purpose: To review the methodology and assumptions used in formulating Halton's development charges policy, provide critical analysis and policy advice regarding Halton's development charges policy, and to provide input on recommendations dealing with any proposed development charges by-law amendments. Members Needed: 4 citizens Meetings: Minimum of one meeting per month (2-3 hrs) held during regular business hours. Additional hours may be required for sub-committee involvement and/or technical review. Contact: Paula Kobli, Development Facilitator, ext. 7184 Ecological and Environmental Advisory Committee Purpose: To provide technical environmental advice related to Halton's natural environment, with an emphasis on planning matters, including implementation, review and monitoring policies of The Regional Plan in keeping with the desire for a high quality natural environment. Applications are invited from those with academic training and/or technical expertise in an environmental discipline and ability to apply their technical expertise in reviewing studies and technical documents, incuding Environmental Impact Assessments for development proposals with potential to impact Halton's natural environment. Along with traditional farming issues, some current areas of interest are the economics of farming, agri-tourism, the horse industry, and agricultural Best Management Practices. The Committee is responsible for developing a community vision and integrated strategy regarding housing in Halton. The Committee also provides advice and input on the preparation, implementation and effectiveness of Halton Region's annual accessibility plan, which addresses the identification, removal and prevention of barriers to people with disabilities with respect to the Region's programs and services. Members Needed: 14 citizens-at-large, at least 8 of whom have a disability Meetings: Generally held on the third or fourth Monday of every other month from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., or as required. Applications are invited from those with interest/expertise in forest management and/or ecology.
