The municipality purchased the existing parking lot at the corner of Main and Brown sîreets and plans to reconfigure it to add more spaces. The CIBC kiosk currently located on the corner of the property will remian for at least another three years under a lease agreement witb the Town. "The expanded parking area will be a wel- corne contribution to downtown parking and wîll make more efficient use of the existing space," said Mayor Gord Krantz. "Maximizing the amount of parking down- town will also support visitors to Town Hall, located just south of the block. " Land cost $225000 The land was purchased from CIBC for $225,000 - money that mainly came from the Town's cash-in-lieuof-parking fund. The dollars in tbe fund are from local busi- nesses thai are unable to provide the required number of parking spaces under the commer- cial zoning bylaws. Those busînesses instead pay a certain amount per space to facilitate public parking. I commend tbe Town for making ibis wise decîsion to enbance tbe downtown," said Glenn Englisb, cbair of tbe Downtown Business Improvement Area. "This will add a gateway to the expanded Town Hall and allow Victoria Park to be better utilized. 1 MitnsCommunity Newspaper Snce 1860 Gunman holds up drive-th ru By Stephanie Thiessen CANADIAN CHAMPION STAFF A i 7-year-old Tîm Hortons employ- ee found himself staring down the bar- rel of a gun tbrough an open drive- tbrougb window Saturday nigbt.
