That's according to the provincial govermdent, whichbhas formally recog- nized that the training efforts of the Halton Regional Police Services Tactical Rescue Unit meet the highesî standards. Hallon Police Chief Gary Crowell reported ai a recent Halton Regional Police Services Board meeting that the provincial government bas recognized the tacttcal units mn-bouse weekly refresher training. About two years ago, a project was ernbarked upon to have tbe units in- bouse training accredited under the auspices of the Ministry of Communiîy Safety and Correctional Services' ade- quacy standards. Graded in 3 areas Officers carefully documented tbe course training standards for tbree mandated areas - bostage rescue, tac- tical response and perimeter control and containent. Tbey were recently infonned their course training standards and lesson plans were tn accordance witb tbe Ministry accredited standards. "Tbe citizens and police offtcers in tbe Halton region are tbe beneficiaries of tbts accreditation," satd Chief Crowell. Tbe Halton Regional Poltce Service is one of only 11I police agencies in the province currently accredited in aIl tbree areas of tactical course training standards.
