Last month, the Eddies - Halton District School Boards student film fes- tival - held its annual gala awards night,.with Milton District High School taking an award in the special effects category. Held at E.C. Drury High School May 25, the festival celebrated the more than 50 films entered in the competi- tion by both elementary and secondary school students. The annual festival provides a forum for young people to communicate their ideas through the creative use of video. This year was the fifth awards evening, and involved about 200 students. "Each year the judges are amazed by the quality of these student-produced films," said Jeff Bowman, communica- tions and multi-media administrator at the Halton District School Board. "Students use digital camcorders and do the post-production work on com- puters, which allows them to develop their visual literacy skills and under- standing of film as a communication medium." Milton Districts award-winning film is entitled 'iPods and iTips for Dummies', and is by students Bethany McCollum, Brian Best and Evelyn Zielinski.
