"BATELINE BRURY" Nathan Michelle Mant Laanstra Dubois Lalonde E.C. DRURY MIGH SCHOOL Welcome to this week's edition of Dateline Drury. As we prepare to enter into the last month of the school year, the warm weather continues to brighten everyone's spirits. Here's a look at the recent happenings at Drury. It's that time of year again, Drury! That's right, it's the Cut for the Cure. Each year, students at Drury vow to shave their heads and raise money for cancer research. This year, six students-Ali Hill, Lisa Brown, Robin Gaspardy, Ryan Liske, Robbie Taylor and Andrew Croll-had their heads shaved in the Locker Bay in front of everyone. Three of these students are donating their hair in order to make wigs for people undergoing cancer treatment. During this event, over two thousand dollars was raised for cancer research. Way to go, Drury! In entertainment news, the grade twelve French Immersion students spent long weeks preparing for the French Cabaret. This event, which took place on May 26th, featured songs and performances by French Immersion students as part of their final grade. Each member of the audience, which consisted of French classes of various grades, had the opportunity to enjoy the festivities and relay feedback. In addition to the French Cabaret, the annual Coffee House is just around the corner. On June lst, students from grades nine to twelve will have the opportunity to read poetry, essays or short stories, perform dance routines, or serenade the audience with a lovely song. Veterans of the Coffee House can attest to its amazing success and the hard work of Mr. Keane, who organizes the event. Family and friends are welcome to enjoy the performances and observe the students as they take the stage. Let the fun begin! Fun and mystery are on the menu for Mr. Keane's grade twelve English class. They will be hitting the road and joumeying to the nearby town of Mississauga for a day at the cinema on May 29th or 30th. The students will have the opportunity to see a movie as part of a film studies unit, before returning to Milton. Have an awesome trip. students! We hope you enjoyed this look at the goings-on at Drury. We urge everyone to take the time to enjoy the warm weather this week and prepare for the beginning of June. See you next week! "TUE ROYAL REPORT" Erin Hetheringlon Lindsay Johnston Cameron Smith Julia Riddetl BISHOP REDIN RIO SCIOOL This week at Bishop Reding was sure action packed, between prom, Chicago and student government elections, is a wonder how BR's students still have time to think! Your Inside Sources hope that everyone bas a wonderful time at the Graduation Dinner & Dance on Prom night this Friday! The grade twelves are looking forward ta an amazing night that will create long-lasting memories for all who attend. Make sure to have the cameras ready to capture one of the last times the graduating class will be together before departing for a fresh beginning next fall. Enjoy the night, grads- your hard work has finally paid off! This weekend a lucky 37 students traveled to Chicago, the windy city. While they were there they had the privilege of attending many exciting events. The first stop was a trip to the internationally known Second City Comedy Club. Everyone on the trip clearly enjoyed the antics of some of the funniest people in America. The group also attended a Chicago Cubs baseball game at the famous Wrigley Field, a game not soon ta be forgotten. The fun didn't stop there, this lucky bunch of students were able to see the world renowned King Tut exhibit. Even though they only spent a few days in this great city, the memory will be there for a lifetime. This past week, the speeches for the new 2006-2007 student counsel were held. This year had the biggest turn out for candidates that this reporter has ever seen! Since the student counsel has now doubled in size, with two grade representatives for each grade, there are many more positions available. The enthusiasm shown through these speeches was quite memorable, and it seems like next year is shaping up to be a great one. With three candidates for President and three for Vice president, the competition is tough. A special meMtion goes to Zak Sholtz, who is running for President, and who entertained us all with a dance that will surely never leave our memories. Be sure to read next week's Royal Report, where we will announce the chosen members of Student Council. Many thanks to this year's student counsel for making this year one to remember. As the previous student govemment's reign ends, our Royal Report for the week must also, until next week BR! 9:30 am -4--l-; nm
