The HCRR was established in 1953 (open to the pub- lic in 1971) by seven men who had a dream and a love of railcars. Mucb work and effort have gone into making the museum's buildings and cars as authentic as possible, including full restoration of the old Rockwood Station that was rescued from demolition in 1971 and moved to the property. Museum guests can now take unlimited rides on the trains, tour the buildings to see the works in progress, and pick up a souvenir at the gift shop while taking a step back in time. Moving toward tbe future, HCRR volunteers continue to strive toward building a new structure to store the rail- cars and continue restoration work on them, said Rose. "ýA lot of behind-the-scenes work is being completed on the fundraising for the Sir Adam Beck Centre and we are still working toward our goal ($375,000)," she said. The HCRR is open weekends only through May, lune, September, and October and seven days a week through- out the summer months, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission costs $6.50 for youth (4-17 years of age); $8.50 for seniors; $9.50 for adults; and children under three are free.
