MacCaskill, CA Commissioner of Corporate Services and Regional Treasurer Tuberculosis Requires Vigilance Friday, March 24, 2006, marks World Tuberculosis Day. Locally and worldwide, tuberculosis (TB) is still a concern and requires public health attention and vigilance to stop its spread. On March 24, Public Health staff from Halton Region and other organizations from around the world will reaffirm their commitment to stop tuberculosis. Approximately 700 cases of TB disease are diagnosed each year in Ontario - 6 to 10 are in Halton residents. Halton Region Public Health staff endeavour to control the spread of TB by providing education, conducting investigations of reported TB cases, as well as ensuring proper treatment. In addition, Halton Region works closely with federal and provincial authorities to follow-up on any person requiring surveillance, medical investigation, and treatment management. A.
