There's currently a need for at least four guards, said Town crossing guard adminis- trator Valerie Lister, and those interested would have to start next Tuesday. "Crossing guards provide a very impor- tant service," said Ms Lister, noting many of the Town's current guards enjoy the position so much they retum each school season. Guards are needed to help students arrive safely at three schools in Milton - Guardian Angels, Sam Sherrati and the new Hawthome Village school - and Ms Lister said standby staff is also required. Ms Lister said applicants have to be at least 18 years old, physically fit, able to deal with inclement weather like rain, snow or extremne heat, have good vision and heaning and be able to move quickly. She noted many of the Town's current crossing guards are seniors. The position pays $11.93 an hour to stant. Work hours would bc a haîf hour before and after each school day, with stant and finish times varying by location. Those interested can drop a resumne off to Ms Lister at the Clerk's department at Town Hall, 43 Brown St., or apply on-line at www.milton.ca. The Town has 22 locations around Milton where crossing guards help stu- dents safely cross the road each school day. It'sARmAufie.
