The Canadian Champion, Friday, July 15, 2005 - A19 liait earff cnctwrkj NOTICE OF COMPLETION Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) New Watermain, Wastewater Mains, Sewage Pumping Station and Forcemain Town of Halton Hills Class Environmental Assessment Study In March 2005, the Regional Municipality of Halton initiated a Class Environmental Assessment for a new trunk watermain, trunk wastewater mains, sanitary sewage pumping station and forcemain on Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) between Fifth Line South and Trafalgar Road (Regional Road 3) in the Town of Halton Hills. The need for these infrastructure components was identified in the Region's "Water & Wastewater Master Plan Review" adopted by Regional Council in March 2003. The study has been conducted in accordance with the requirements of a Schedule B project as detailed in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (June 2000) and has identified the preferred placement of the new watermain, wastewater mains, sewage pumping station and forcemain is within the existing right-of-way for Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) by means of open cut construction. At water course crossings, the new services will be installed using jack and bore tunneling to avoid entering or disturbing the water courses. The preferred location for the new pumping station is on the south side of Steeles Avenue, approximately 300 m west of Sixth Line South. Separate Project Files for the watermain, wastewater mains and forcemain evaluation and the sewage pumping station are available for viewing for thirty (30) calendar days from the date of this Notice until August 15, 2005 at the Regional Municipality of Halton, Citizen's Reference Library at the address below. If concerns arise regarding this project during this 30-day review period, which cannot be resolved in discussion with the Region of Halton, a person or party may request that the Minister of the Environment make an order for the project to comply with Part Il of the Environmental Assessment Act (referred to as a Part Il Order), which addresses individual environmental assessments.
