Board member and Hatton Hilts Councittor Bryan Lewis said at the June 23 board of direclôrs meeting he needs to know hosv to defend the seerningty betty prtce tag. Gary Hutton, CH's director of cotnmuni- cations, said the funds svon't be used to finance a year-long party. but will go toward 'good conservation initiatives" with lasting benefits. "One of the criteria we've come up with is that (the anniversary proJects) be tangi- ble conservation initiatives with lasting benefits tu the cormmunity" Mr. Hunton said after the meeting. The motion - which came 10 the board of directors via the extemnat relations com- mittee - recommended that half the funds be considered for inclusion in CH's 2006 budget. with the other haif being raised through special grants and sponsorships. As one of the anniversary projects, Mr. Hutton said CH hopes to have a major tree planting involving the public at one of its properties.
