New bridge club Calling all Miltonians interested in joining a duplicate bridge club. An opening reception for the newly-formed Milton Duplicate Bridge Club was held last week, but it's not too late to get involved and perhaps develop a new interest. Duplicate bridge meetings - with open, stratified games - are now held every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. downstairs at Martindale Gardens, 45 Martin St. Led by director Rick Cuttle, players can earn masterpoints, which are recorded with the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), he said. "Duplicate bridge is bridge in which the hand is played several times," explained Mr. Cuttle, who's licensed with the ACBL. Every Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Martindale Gardens, supervised play is held for beginners and improving players. This is a chance for players to leam the gane and discover winning strategies in a relaxed atmosphere. Players are also able to compare their plays with hands previ- ously played by beginner, intermediate and expert players. These sessions also include a "toonie lunch." "The whole idea is to have fun, learn and improve your bridge- playing skills," Mr. Cuttle said, adding, "It's excellent mental exer- cise." For more information, e-mail Mr. Cuttle at cuttle@sympatico.ca. Renaissance auction Hear ye, hear ye.
