Council supported a 2.24 per cent increase to both rates. For mileage this equates to 45.7 cents per kilometre, up from 44.7 cents. Milton Mayor Gord Krantz's car allowance ment from, $429 a month to $439 and CAO Mario Belvedere's allowance was increased from $475 to $486. 'Me new rates are effective May 1. Staff reviewed information from the Canadian Automobile Association, the cur- rent rates in Halton municipalities and Revenue Canada numbers to corne up with the recommended increase. Ise cutrent instability of gas prices was also taken into consideration. Council also endorsed an additional reimbursemnent of five cent per kilometre for building inspectors. "Staff bas reviewed the différent driving condition on a daily basis for tbe building inspectors," a report from Town Director of Corporate Services and Treasurer Jirn McQueen said. "This group of employees spend about 75 per cent of their timne on job sites and their vebicle becomnes not only their mode of transportation but also their workplace as times to do paperwork." 'The report noted in ligbt of this, building inspectors' adverse driving conditions and bigber cost of business insurance, the extra five cents was being recornmended.
