When it cornes to, people - especially those in the music industry - the ability to transcend the decades is highly coveted, and just as elusive. But to fans of Eric Burdon, the 64-year- old musician has managed to, do just that. "Somne (music) neyer seemes to age. The artist does, but the songs don't,"* said pro- moter Dave Rose, who works with the Britishi musician. He addcd the radio stations seemn to, agree. "A lot of the radio stations stili play the songs that made lsim (Mr. Burdon) popular in the first place," lie said. Burdon, Bryan 'Chas' Chandler, Alan Price, John Steel and Hilton Valentine. It didn't take long for the world to take notice of the group, particularly in the United States and The United Kingdomn. Somne of their ensuing top lits included House of the Rising Sun, We've Gotta Get Out of Thiis Place, It's My Life, I Put a SpelI On You, Don't Stop thc Carnival and The Jarrow Song. The original AnitaIs split ini 1965, after whicli M. Burdon formed another band deemned Uic New Animais, known for lits including San Franciscan Niglits and Colored Rain. In 1975, Uic original Animais reunited for another albumi, and in 1983 tliey embarked on a reunion tour. In between the original and new Animais, M. Burdon was at tlie forefront of a number of emerging music scenes, and fronted the band WAR, called one of the biggest funk bands of the 1970s. For the next couple of decades. lie worked on numerous collaborations and solo efforts, and appeared in a number of films and television soundtracks. He and the original Animais were inducted into Cleveland's Rock 'n Roll Hall of Famne in Uic mid-1I990a. Recently, lie's been touring and recording and editing var- ious projects.
