Players set to celebrate silver anniversary El I 1 EPHANIE THIESSEN The Champion Margaret Hamilton doesn' t don any rose- coloured glasses when she looks back at the hum- ble beginnings of the Milton Players Theatre Group. As one of its founding memibers, she remnembers the group as it was - complete with ail the challenges that arise when a group must make do with limnited resources. But she dues admit it forced them to corne up with surme fairly creative ideas. "We had nothing - no sets, notlsing," said the retired Ms Hamilton who, 25 years later, is still an integral part of the theatre group. The farat performance was held in Use auditorium at Use E.C. Drury School for Use Deaf. White sheets compriaed the set, and apple juice cana tumed ordinary bulbs into makeshift stage lighting. "We bujît Use sets under the bleachers at the (Milton) Fairgmounds," Ms Hamilton remnarked. The first show was well received by an enthuaiastic crowd that Ms Hamilton viewed not from. the stage - to Usis day she doesn't act in Use plays - but from where she stood seling tickets and refresh- ments and seating guests. "Acting's not my Uing," Ms Hamilton said. "You could have 50 people for acting, but if you don't have somneone to mun Use lights and sound and bandie Use refresh- ments, you don't have a show." Chances are as the countdown begins to Use group's upcoming anniversary dinner and dance, Use mnemories wili continue. The anniversary dinner and dance, which is open to Use public, will take place April 9 in Use Milton Lions Club Hall at Milton Memorial Arena on Thompson Road. Tickets cost $35 each, and include a buffet- style dinner. There wdl be a raffle and prizes, as well as a deejay for Use dance portion of Use night and live entertainjnent featuring hometown stand-up comedian Jason Blanchard, who promiùses lots of laughs.
