Called Semninars for the Separated, the lO-week program offered by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Halton Region branch, involves lectures, smail group discussions and peer support. Gueat speakers will address topics includ- ing stages of separation, communicating with an ex, legal aapects, parenting tbrough separation and divorce, coping with stress and anger and bealthy relationships. The group discussions allow participants to help and support one another and devel- op a new network of friends. Close bonds often form within the " Brake Service " Steering & Suspension " MOT Satety Inspection " Computer diagnostics groups and many of the participants con- tinue to meet informally long after the pro- gram ends. Seminars for the Separated bas been offered in Halton for more than 15 years. 'Graduates' of the programt report that it's made a difference in their abilities to cope through a difflcult tune. This in trm helps minimize the impact a divorce can have on their children, their performance at work and general feeling of well-being. Many find going through the trauma of a separa- tion with others in the same situation is very helpful. The programn is held in Oakville and nons from 7 to 10 p.m. The cost is $t100.
