The truck will be used out of the Campbellville station. By ROBIN DOWNTON-POIRIER Special to The Champion The public information meeting beld by the Nassagaweya Community Consultation Commninee (NCCC) last Tuesday in Brookville was a success, said many members of the group. Attended by more than 120 resi- dents, the evening showcased vani- ous Halton organizations as part of a 'Safe Living Series.' "We had a really good tumnout and 1 think it went very well," said Stu Johnston, chairman of the NCCC. 'TMe presentations by both the (Halton Regional Police) Fraud Squad and Crime Stoppers (of Halton) were great as were each of the displays." There were about 16 displays at the Nassagaweya Community Centre in Brookvtlle by organiza- sions including Halton Regional Police, Campbellville and Area Business Association. NCCC/Rural Watch, The Champion, Halton EMS, Town of Milton, Region of Halton and Crime Stoppers. Guests were encouraged to visit each of the displays to learu more about the services offered to, our community. Outside the communi- ty centre, the Milton Fire Department's new fire truck was unveiled. "Thle 2005 International Heavy Rescue truck will replace an old cube van that's being taken out of service," said Fire Chief Larry Brassard. 'We received tbe truck a few weeks ago and it will be used by the Campbellville station. It will service the community well." Ward 3 Councillor Cindy Lunau presented two silk-screened prints made by Nassagaweya artist Elizabeth Wilkes Hoey to the com- munity. The prints, une of the orig- inal Halton County crest and the other of the Halton County Court House (made in the 1960s as draperies in the courthouse), were recently rediscovered in Ms Wilkes Hoey's studio and wcre mounted and framed. One print wtll remain in the Nassagaweya hall in Brookville and the other will go to the Milton Town Hall. Ms Wilkes Hoey. in ber nineties, attended the presentation with ber daughter. Det. Const. Lauren Sclisizzi and Det. Alex Fishbein of the Halton Regional Police Fraud Squad edu- cated the audience about identity theft and how to avoid becoming a victim. Det.
