The need f0 satisfy east-west capacity requirements in this transportation corridor has been identified in studies such as the Halton Region Transportation Master Plan (2004) and the Sherwood Survey Secondary Master Transportationfvransit Plan (2004). This assessment will: (1) consider a wide range of options for transportation corridor improvements tci satisfy future travel demands; and (2) consider options for the crossing of watercourses by a new watermain, which will benefit future development in the Sherwood Survey Secondary Plan area. In order to best address operational deficiencies associated with this segment of Derry Road (Regional Road 7), a number of road improvement alternatives will be examined as part oif the study including widening the roadway, croas-sectional elements, intersection improvements, possible grade separation for the railway crossing, overaîl trait ic operations and the impact of such improvements on the social and natural environments. This notice signais the commencement of the Clasa Environmental Asseasment - a study which will define the problem. identity and evaluate alternative solutions, and determine a preferred solution in consultation with regulatory agencies, and the public. The transportation component of the study (Part (1)) s being conducted in compliance with Schedule C of the Municipal Glass Environmentaî Assessment (June 2000), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The watermain compontent of the study (Part (2)) s being conducted in compliance with Schedule B of the Municipal Glass Environmental Assessment (June 2000). For Part (1), the transportation corridor improvements, a key compontent of the study will be consultation with interested stakeholders (public and regulatory agencies) ait two Public Information Centres (PICs). The PICs will provide stakeholders with an opportunity to meet the Project Team, review the study scope and discuss issues related to the project including alternative solutions, environmentaî considerations and evaluation criteria. If is anticipated that the firat public meeting will be held in May 2005. Details regarding the forthcoming PICs will be advertised as the study progresses. For (Part (2)), a Project File for the watermain component of the study will be placed on the public record in April 2005, separately from the transportation compontent.
