Parts of Williams Avenue. along with Pearl, Bruce and Court streets are slaîed for reconstruction potentially startmng next Jone. Local residents had a chance toi take a dloser look as tihe project drawings last week at a public information centre beld as Hughi Foster Hall, with some having mixed reactions about tbe work proposed. ian Gooden, a Williams Avenue resident. said she was glad to see a sidewalk was finally going to be pat in on her street. "t'mi happy tbey're going to do il. My grandson bas, neyer been able to play in lhe front," sbe said, addîng tbat now he cati ride his bike up and down the sidewalk. The Williams Avenue project will be focused on tbe stretcb from Parkway Drive to Commercial Street. The new sidewalk will run down one side of road, cstting across some boulevards and driveways. Thse road is also being slightly narrowed, creating boulevard space beiween tbe side- walk and the asphaît and keeping the sîde- walks farther away from residents' front doors. Thse Region will participate in the Williams Avenue project with water main and sanitasy sewer replacements. The other road projects - Pearl Street fromt Ontario to Fulton streets, Bruce Street front Main to Pearl streets and Court Street fromn Main Street to south of Pearl Street -witl involve revamping and widening existing sidewalks, instatting curbs and laying new asphals. Milton Public Libraey Chief Librarian Leslie Fitcb came out to the public infor- mation centre to voice her conceruis on tbe potential impact the roadwork could have on library parking access. TMe parking lot entrance and exit are located on Pearl Street. Ms Fitcb explaîned tbe library sees about 4,000 people per week, leasing ber worried about pedestrians and drivers heading tbrough a construction zone.
