Mike West, chairnian of the Nassagaweya Communiîy Consultation Committee (NCCC), wilI be given a 15-year Volunteer Service Award for his volunteer efforts with vartous committees and groups in Halton. His work has earned him tbe respect and admiration of bis peers. Nominated for the provincial volunteer award by Jean Woods, a member of thse NCCC and the Rural Watcb prograin, she praised Mr. West's accomplishments. 1I wanled him to, get special recognition because he bas done s0 mucb," said Ms Woods. "Mike has been the driving force behind 50 many great tbings ini the community, like supporting tIhe seat belt and baby seat initia- tive that Jan (Mowbray) took on as a projecî," added Tim Kingsbury, a member of the NCCC and chairman of the Halton Region Museum Foundation. "I bave been a volunteer for one tbing or anotber since I was a kid," said Mr. Kingsbury. I bave served on many boards, like Milton LACAC, Milton Historical Society executive, and organizations sucb as Telephone Pioneers. I bave served on boards like Halton Women's Place for a nuniber of years and brtefly on Use Halton Leaming Foundatton - a founidation tbat, as a trustee for the board of education, I belped found.
