Don't Quit - Keep Playin g!!! o "Let us flot becomne weary in domng good, for atthe proper turne wie will reap a harvest if we do flot give up." Galatians 6:9 A beautiful story cornes our way from the life of Poland's famous concert pianist and former Prime Minister, Ignace Paderewski: An eager mother, wishing to encourage her young son 's progress at the piano, bought two tickets for a Paderewski Concerto. Upon arrivai at the Music Hall, the duo found their seats near the front and eyed the majestic Steinway piano on stage. Soon, the mother found a friend to talk to, and the young boy slipped away unnoticed. Suddenly, the spotlights came on, the audi- ence quieted, and th only sound that couid ke heard was that of the young boy who had escaped bis mother's attention and who now sat on the piano bench innocently play- ing "TWinkle, Twinkle, Littie Star." "Don' quit - keep playing," he whispered to the boy. Leanîng over, Paderewski reached down with bis left hand and began filling in the bass part. Sooin his right arm reached around, encircling the child, to add a running obbiigato. Together, the old master and the young novice heid the crowd mes- merized. In our lives, unpoiished though we may be, it is the Master who surrounds us and whispers in our ear, tîme and again, "Don't quit- keep piaying." And as we do, he augments and supplements until a work of amazing beauty is created. Our life's journey towards suc- cess begins with the first step. The most important step you take is today's!
