st, Present and Future Twenty years ago, my wife and 1 wcre in thc United Kingdomn and one Sunday mcmn-> ing found us in the English town of Salisbury. We decided to visit the medieval cathedral there. That church is famed for its beauty and stone spire which is the tallest in England and second tallest in ail of Europe. Upon entering the building though I could flot heip but be struck by the contrast. There was a small group of worshippers at the front of the church and a large group of tourists at thc back who were ioudiy "ooing and awing" at the buiiding's beauty despite the repeated rcquests of a church officiai to be quiet as a service was in progress. 1 fottnd the contrasjarrmng. One of the things that help make Milton special is ail of the various churches. Some of them, including both of my own, have been around for a long tîme going right back to the very beginnings of Milton. Other con- gregations are much younger. By the samne token some of our church buildings are quite liter- ally historic while others are far more modemn. The variety extends to the styles of worship as well but as different as they all are, they share somne things in common;- tbey embody Ood's loving, car- *ug presencc mi our commurtifty and help noake mo community, special. 1 ficoIy bellove this with'ail my heart, but what about yoursetf?
