il j The Canadian Champion, Fniday, June 18, 2004-Gi Artslertainmen t Art in Victoria Park Show to feature works of over 25 local artists By STEPHANIE THIESSEN The Champion With the opportu- nity of putting their master- pieces on display in a pic- turesque setting, artists' hearts wilI be smnging right along with the birds at tomnorrow's Art in Victoria Park show. The third annual event, put on by the Fine Arts Society of Milton (FASM), will feature more than 25 local artists who wilI showcase and offer for sale some of their works. The show, which is free, will run from 9:30 arn. to 4 p.m. at the Park, which is located in front of Town Hall on Brown Street. Dave Repchuk, a participating artist and member of the FASM executive, sasd the show will Pro- vide a great day for both the arti.s and visitors. What hes most enthusiastic about is the wide variety of art the show will present - [rom paint- ings to stained glass to sculptures, he sald. This, in tum, draws a widely var- ied audience. "Young and old, people who are somewhat interested (in art), peo- ple who are very interested... there's a good range of people," he sald. Ibis year's theme, wbich will be reflected in the artists' collective works, is summier. Like last year, visitors wili have a chance to vote for their favourite piece of art. The show provides an opportuni- ty for public validation of artists' work, Mr. Repcbuk sald. For the public, it provides snap- shot glinapses into talented artists' minds. Among Mr. Repchuk's displayed works will be unique acrylic paint- ings that incorporate poetry written by his wife. Tracy. It goes way back," he sald, explaining how thse coupîe's talents merged. AlinIDail, Art in Victoria Park is a show not to be missed, Mr. Repcbuk said. It opens up the brain a bit. You can take a walk iD the park and (enjoy) human creation." "When I was a kid I like to draw and paint, but when I got older I put away childisb tbings (and focused on a career). After 'freedom 55', I began to paint again," he said.
