The pumping station is located on the southwest corner of Lakeshore Road and Hampton Heath Road and services a catchment area generally bounded by Queen Elizabeth Way, Fairview Street, Appleby Line, Lakeshore Road and Bronte Road. The purpose of this Class EA study is to assess the environmental impacts of upgrading the existing Elizabeth Gardens Sewage Pumping Station. Within this Class EA, alternative design solutions have been evaluated to select the most technically feasible and environmentally sound design approach. The recommended preferred solution involves expanding the station beyond its current rated capacity by installing new pumps and provision for standby power. These works are not expected to expand the building footprint. As a part of this EA process, a Public Information Centre (PIC) is being held to allow members of the public and interested groups to review the evaluation of alternatives, preliminary design, drawings, other study material and discuss the project with the study team. The Regional Municipality of Halton invites all interested parties to attend the following Public Information Centre in order to review the recommended preferred solution and provide input to the study. DATE: Wednesday, April 28,2004 TIME: 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. LOCATION: Regional Municipality of Halton Woodlands Operation Centre 1179 Bronte Road, Oakville Oakwood Room Following the PIC, public input will be addressed and the preferred solution will be finalized. We're currently engaged in discussions with the Province to ensure they have an understanding and appreciation of the investment and commitment the Halton community has made towards responsible waste management. I continue to challenge any suggestions that Halton's landfill be considered as a short or long term waste disposal solution for other municipalities. It is up to the Province to provide the leadership and legislative tools that will permit a full exploration of all available options.
