* - The Canadian Champion, Tuesday, Apfel 6, 2004 Plenty of Miltonians relying on food bank A story on page 3 today rem-inds us about the importance of donatmng to our local food bank. The news that so many Halton residents, including Miltonians, are havmng trouble fmndmg the money to, eat healthy, or even eat at ail, is disturbmng. It's flot surprising however, when you consider several factors- inadequate affordable housing, rising rents and the overali higher cost of living in Halton. As a resuit, some people are forced to turn to food banks for help. So those of us who have plenty of food ini our refrigerators need to, help keep our local food bank - operated by the Salvation Army- well stocked. With Easter coming this weekend, the timing couldn't be more per- fect to, contribute. And it's easy. Local grocery stores have bins available right on the premises. Ail you have to do is pick up a few extra items while you're shop- ping and drop them in. And you'11 feel good domng it. * Our Readers Write D)owntown bagkuy grid«.
