lO-The Canadian Champion, Friday, February 20, 2004 wIý n j / j ..j.. Two cars were waiting at a stop- light. The light tumfed green, but the man didn't notice it. A woman in the car behind him is watching traffic pass around them. The woman begins pounding on her steering wheel and yelling at the man to move. The man doesn't move. The woman is going ballistic inside her car, ranting and raving at the man, pounding on her steer- ing wheel and dlash. The light turris yellow and the woman begins to blow the car horn, flips him off, and screams profanity and curses at the man. The man, looks up, sees the yel- low light and accelerates through the intersection just as the light turris red. The woman is beside herseif, screaming in frustration as she misses her chance to get through Mistaker the intersection. As she is still in mid-rant she hears a tap on hier window and looks up into the bar- rel of a gun held by a very serious looking policeman. The policeman tells ber to shut off her car while keeping both hands in sight. She complies. speechless at what is happening. After she shuts off the engine, the police- man orders her to exit her car with her hands Up. She gets out of the car and hie orders her to, turu and place ber hands on her car. She tuus*, places her hands on the car roof and quickly is cuffed and hustled into the patrol car. She is too bewil- dered by the chain of events to ask any questions and is driven to the police station where she is'finger- printed, photographed, searched, booked and placed in a celi. After a couple of hours, a police- Identity man approaches the cell and opens the door for ber. She is escorted back to the booking desk where the original officer is waiting with hier personal effects. He hands her the bag containing ber belongings, and says, "I'm really sorry for this mistake. But you see, 1 pulled top behind your car while you were blowing your hom, yelling at the guy in front of you and cussing up a blue streak at him. Previously, 1 had noticed the "Choose Life!" license plate hold- er, the "What Would Jesus Do?" bumper sticker, the "Follow me to Sunday School" bumper sticker, and the chrome plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk of your car. So, naturally. .. .1 assumed you had stolen the vehicle!" Ouch! The story above illustrates the power of example! Actions speak louder than words. People remember what we did long after they recollect what we said! Is our life reflecting the pro- fession of our lips? One of life's greatest challenges is to live out the very principles that we espouse. How are you doing? Need a tune up on your attitude? Does your anger need a brake job? Do you need to, lubricate your relational skills? Make an appointment for change! Decide today to visit a local church. Service times and loca- tions are published in the Religious Directory below.
