U Il with Chargers on verge of getting out of control By STEVE LeBLANC The Champion T omove forward the IceHawks must now hold iback - on the rough stuif that is. Taking that notion to heart at Memorial Arena Sunday, Milton's juniors maisstained their composure during another punishing snd confrontational encounter witb Rick Bince's Mississauga Chargers. 'Mat restraint resulted in an 8-2 thraslsing of the intimidation- minded visitors, and gave Milton a two-gamnes-to-one lead in a series thas's tbreatening to tum cbaotic - botb ots and off the ice. "No retaliation - that was the difference," noted captain Dean Strong, whose team didss't stars trading blows with the Chargers until long after the verdict had been delivered. 'We stuck to Our systemns and won the key battdes. "I thissk we rattled theus today. We've juat got totr and stay away fromn tse crap. Echoing those sentiments was IceHawks owner Mario Forgione, who's currently behind Use bench in replacement of suspended head coach George Dupont. Pleased with game three effort "After dropping game two, the guys came back with a lot of character," said the interim skipper, on board to "create contissuity" during Dupont's absence. "We were happy witb the way tbey han- dird tbemselves (against the rought stull}." Capitalizing on Mississauga's blatant lack of discipline, Milton scored three times with the man-advantage. Two of those goals came from aftemoon standout Julian Sarraino, who recorded the IceHawks' first hat-trick of the playoffs. His powerplay markers both came on a five-missute major, pun- ishment for Charger Matt Harris' naaty kick to a fallen Jonathan Ornelas. lIs for bis first playoff test as an IceHawk, Jamie Flury was solid but largely untested in the hometown cage. Omelas and Adam Pileggi each tallied twice to fuel the lopsided victory. Steadily-improvmng bluelmner Ryan Bemardi - a recent fu-st- round draft pick by Burlmngton's Jr. A lacrosse team - contributed thrte assista. Sunday's blowout capped a hectie weekend in which the IceHawks and Chargers booked up three times in just 46 hours. That made for an awful lot of extra-curricular activity and subse- quent battde scars - especially with opponents that had laid the groussdwork for a binter rivalry through regular season play. Each teamn prevailed as home, with the Chargers doing so by a 5-2 margin Saturday night at Malton Arena.
