There's no better way to celebrate wmnter than to get outdoors and have some fun. Crawford Lake Conservation Aiea will hold its annual Snowflakes and Snowsnakes festival February 8. It will include nsany outdoor and indoor activities to help participants embrace the magic of winter. Visitors will be able to take part in a snowshoe demonstration to leamn the history of snowshoes and try oui a pair. Those who love sporta will be mnvited to try racmng a 'snows- nake' down an icy trough in a traditional Iroquoian game. And the park will hold a marshmnallow moast around a tire in the Iroquoian village. There will also be hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on the 16 kmn of trails mi the Park. Or, visitors will be able to tour through the lroquoian village. For those who like to stay warmn and toasty, the festival will offer many m1door activities. Participants will be able to gather around a fn-e i an Iroquoian longhouse and isten to traditional First Nations legends. Free craft-making will also be available ini the Visitors Centre and visitors will have the chance to wann up in the auditorium with an audio-visual presentation. Finally, the Crawford Lake Gift Shop will be open for those who want to purchase gifts, buy a snack or visît thse barbecue. 'Mse Snowflakes and Snowsnakes festival will be held from 10 arn. to 4 p.m. The first 20 cars into the park will receive a free gift, and visitors can alto fsll out a ballot to win a park pass or other prizes. Admission costs $6. Children aged 4 years old and younger wil be admitted free. Crawford Lake is located on the comer of Guelph Line and Steeles Avenue.
