The week prior t0 the break ended with a number of events that got everyone into the Christmas spirit. On Thursday, members of the music and vocal programs at B.R. put on an amazing show of their talents. The outstanding act included the Senior Band, Jazz Band, Guitars, Choir, and Vocal Class, wbo ail showed not only their spectacutar abilities, but atso their profound respect for the pieces they performed. Ail wbo participated and attended wontd tike 10 thank bntb Mr. Alfano and Ms. Caruana for their dedication and support. On the Friday before the break, Bishop Reding heid it's annuai Christmuas assembly. The assembly featured many talented acta, such as beat boxisg by Chris Carmicbael. The staff of B.R. even muade an appearance in their rendition of "The Tweive Days of Christmas." Fun was had by ail, and il was an amazing start to the break. A huge tbank you goes out to the Clubs Club for organizing this assembly, wbich is not soon to be forgotten. tn other news, the Bisbop Reding cast of "Little Sbop of Horrors" continues their rehearsals in this New Year. Tbis year's lead rotes wiil be featuring the ever wonderful Elizabeth Huges and the outgoing Mark Ross. The studenîs of B.R. are anxiously awaiting this performance, which will be held in May. This week was also a busy week back for the Bisbop Reding athletic teamas. The Senior Girls Volîtybail learn lost their game, after a strong bantle by all players. Special mention goes ont 10 Lindsay Furik, who once again sbowed ber amazing atbletic ahility witb many gond bits tbroughout tbe game. 'Me Junior Girls volleyball alto started their week witb an exciting game. The coaches wouid like to congrarulate Michelle Serafmni for tbe excellent effort, work, and determination during game. In maie athietica, tbe Senior Boys Basketball team started off the New Year on tbe rigbt food and ended up winning their game. Marcus Gray played an ansazing game and once again sbowed bis outstanding abilities. In Junior Boys Basketbatl, the boys lot their firat game back, but put in an excellent effort on att accounts. Tbe coaches would like to recognize, once again, Joey Mello for bis amazing pîsys. The students of Bishop Reding bad a busy week of assign- ments, culminating activities, tests, ISUJ's, and exam prepara- tion, but still make tome time for relaxation witb tbe new foot- ball table in tbe cafetorium. We would like 10 take Ibis tine to encourage ail students wbo are scrambling to finish off tbe semester on a bigb note, and congratulate theru on their efforts! Instead assign- ments long since forgoîten and more work greeted them, obliterating aIl joy lefi over from big meals arîd presenta. What a welcome back 10 achool. The Prefect organization had devcloped a few fundraisers previous 10 the break, raising money for MD's Christmas collection. Well over $1,000 was raised in total, over $800 of il being donaîed by Prefecîs. Thank y0u 10 those who donated and helped make somebody's holiday season that much brighter. The Girls hockey teamn's season is looking brightcr after they lied MM Robinson their firat day back. Helpmng out was Tara Eagles whose hat-trick closed the gap and gave MD their second point of the sea- son. Coach Ferguson was 'imprested by their effort' and notes that the team is 'improving with every gane." The Boys team had slightly more trouble in their game, playmng with a short bench. The score was in double digits (for the other team) by the final buzzer. This letton will perbapa give the squad a much-need- ed boost before playoffs. There is a lot to prepare before a group of enthusias- tic students head off 10 Italy during their March break. Already tome have started the countdown, only t00 eager to have a change of scenery. Another big event is the Prefect sponsored Semi-for- mal dance coming up March 5th. This year's theme is Hollywood glamour, so prepare your Zorro cos- tumes well in advance. This is a muaI tee event for senior students and must not be missed. Tickets will be on sale by the end of the month, and will sell-ouî fast, so be ready when the moment comes. Exama are fast approachîng meanmng moat students are suffering from sleep deprivation and extreme forms of stress. Il makes the holidays seemn like a dream of the past, but there ia hope.
