This study wiIi provide Haiton Region with the biATion strategies, policies and tools needed to manage traffic safely, effectively, and cost efficientiy and to offer a range of transportation choices to meet the needs of Haiton residents. Ultimateiy, the Haiton Transportation Master Plan Study will resuit in a more liveabie community that supports the mobiiity needs of residents, businesses and visitors in both the rural and urban areas of the Region. This study is being conducted in accordance with the requirements of Phases 1 and 2 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (June 2000), which la an approved proceas under the Ontario Environmentai Assesament Act. The study wili define transportation opportunities, identify and evaluate altemnative solutions (inciuding alternative travel modes) and identify an overal transportation network to serve Haiton Region forthe next 20 years. The firat of three rounds of Public Information Centres (PICs) was held in June 2003 in each of the Regions local municipalities at which time input was received from the public on the Transportation Vision, the master plan procesa and evaluation criteria.
