While operatmng with just a haif-dozen pitchers - and a lack of depth at mosi other positions, due to injuries and work comnitments - Milton is enjoying one of its most prosperous Ieague-play stretches in recent memory, having won four of its last five games. Offering hope for a successful second half of the year, George Moore's Red Sox prevailed in three straight outings last weekend to double its season win total. Unfortunately, a short-staffed lineup finally caught up with themin n Erindale Monday evening, when they were ham- mered 13-3. "We don't have a lot of depth or pitch- ing. but really it was just a rotten gaine.' said Moore. "Overail however, things are coming together." That was particularly evident at Brian Best Park Saturday, when the local lads scored straight victories. lant Zettle was largely responsible for wmn number one, as he tossed a coin- plete-garne (seven-innmng) two-hitter to blank Eri ndale 4-0. Leading offensively with two bits apiece were Steve MacDonald and Kurt Mitchell, who alto drove in a pair of runs. Next to faîl was Dundas, whom rookie Taylor Lawton finally vanquisheri 8-7 with a two-out solo borner in thelOtb inning. This capped a -3-for-S perforrn- ance for the young infielder - who thus far has enjoyed a radier smooth transi- tion up froin the junior ranks. Also standing out in the day 's latter victory with three hits each were Ryan Davison and Jef Sommer. Reliever Brent Kostal picked up the win after Dundas erased a three-run lead and threatened to doute the hosts' victo- ry party. From there, the Red Sox punctuated a 3-for-3 weekend by outdistancing Glanbrook Sunday. Josh Campbell - who's become une of the teains work- horses on the mound - delivered five solidi innings of relief work, whilc an early lead and halanced hitting campaign factored heavily into the win. Perhaps realizing a future in football was at risk, the Tri-City quarterbaek wisely took a knee and let the dlock run out. Coach Barry Emo was outraged afier the game.
