Negotiators for the Halton chapter of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO) recently gave notice of a requesi for a no-board report to their Halton board counterparts and the conc il- iator the Iwo sides have been working with. The 1,500 ful-time equivalent public elementary teachers in i-laton voted 96 per cent in lavour of a strike mandate on June 5. The ETFO Halton contract expired August 31, 2002. "The potential iv there not to have a deal hefore the end of June" and the conclusion of' the sehool year, said Maureen Weinberger, president of the local ETFO. Ms Weinberger said she doesn't leel a lot was accomplished in the last round oif con- ciliation. "There was some movement on working conditions, a little," she said.
