As the school year is ending, everybody has been struggling to get schoolwork and ISU's fin- ished, studying for exams and begin planning their sum- mers. As the grade 12 and OAC prom is nearing, the candidates for valedictorian are also being narrowed down. Congratulations to grade 12 finalists Haley Macdonald, Jaime Silk, and Taylor Coulombe. Also con- gratulations to Newal Chishty, Marty MacIntyre and Sean Magee who were top three finalists for the OAC valedictorian. Ail of the finalists presented their speeches at the grad breakfast on June 12th. Good luck to all of them. For all of the returning MDHS students, timetable conflicts are now posted outside the Student Services office where you should make an appointment soon to change your scheduile if you are on the list. What's up at MDHS....Sports are done, courses are finishing, and prom is coming, (if anyone wants to have an after party please feel free to do so). What an exciting week is left. Or stressful. Exams are starting this Thursday, June 19th. After that is....FREEDOM! As much freedom as teenagers can have during the summer that is. Freedom to have a sum- mer job, to sleep in all day and to very often do absolute- ly nothing! Get ready to make money, go to concerts, see friends and just forget about school for another two months. To the people of Milton, we say have a great week, and prepare for a deluge of students to suddenly appear during the day, and the very early morning, now that we are out of school. Hehehehehe Jenna Masciantonio Meredith Murphy BISHOP REDING HIG SCHOGL BR Fact of the week: The first words that Thomas Edison spoke into the phonograph were, "Mary had a little lamb". Prom 2003 was an event to remember. Graduates and al others who attended the formai at St. Vladimir's Cultural Centre in Oakville last Friday were astounded and contented by the majestic settine. Senior students gleefully celebrated the end of their high school careers. The Annual Athletic Banquet took place on Wednesday night in the cafetorium. Congratulations to all the winners of the night. In particular, congrats to Andrew Pepper and Erin Greenfield, who were hon- oured as the Male and Female Athlete of the year. The Banquet allowed athletes who participated in sports throughout the year to gather for an evening of food, entertainment, and awards. Al Royals retired their cleats and jerseys for the evening and dressed their best. A sensational video and slideshow reflecting on the past year's battle, triumphs, losses, efforts, sportsman- ship and friendships was shown. As the end of the year draws to a close, summer sports come to an end as well. The varsity Boys' Baseball team concluded their season winning two of their three games at the OFSAA tournament. The Boys finished fifth overall in the province. Congratulations on a spectacular season! In other sports action Wednesday, the Varsity Girls'-Softball team rose to the challenge against Georgetown High. The Girls fought hard both offensively and defensively. Their unmeasured skill, determination and heart, along with Cassie Crevier's grand slam, contributed largely to their 12-9 win! Good luck Girls as they advance to Halton Hills. Go Royals Go! Many big changes are already underway for next years Student Government. The student body welcomes three newly elected members with open arms. On Wednesday, Farran Glynn, Mallory Ryan and Cherie Langstone were elected as Student Reps by their grades. Their energy, effort and enthusiasm as well as great ideas will undoubtedly serve the school and their grades well. Backs are bent and pens are scribbling as students finish the last assignments, essays and tests of the semester. Exams are scheduled to start Wednesday, but a nervous panic has already begun to arise. Have no fear, summer is just around the corner. Good luck to al students who write their exams next week! "Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking our potential." -Liane Cardes 1I ýi DATEMINE DRURY Julianna Clarke Sara Grimbly Jordan Lumb Hello once again our loyal readers. This is the last time you'll be hearing from us before exams start. That's right, exams are less than a week away and closing fast. If you haven't started studying yet be sure to schedule enough time so you are not cramming the night before your exam. Most exams are worth 20-40% of your final mark so this is not the time to slack off. If anything, this is the time to pick up the pace. The athletic banquet that was held this past Wednesday is now over and congratulations are in order to all those who received recog- nition for their athletic achievements, but now it's time to get back to business. We know it's hard with all the other things that are going on like the barbeque taking place this Saturday and Sunday at Home Hardware to raise much needed money for prom, but there is time to study and still do the things you want. Prom arrangements are something else that can go on the old list of things to think about. The prom is on the 25th of this month and there are a lot of things to prepare ie. Limo, formal wear, dates etc. Hopefully, you already have most of these things covered so they are not distracting you from your stud- les. The most important thing to remember is that school is almost over. It's not over yet and this last week is going to be tough for everyone including parents that are going to have to put up with us overwhelmed kids, but remember it's only one more week and then freedom, glorious, glorious freedom.
