Former Milton lawyer disbarred James Sinclair ordered 10 miake $2 .5 million in restitution 10 clients A ltonner Miltonu lawyer was disharrecl last week hy the Laws Society of' Upper Canada for professional misconduet for misappropriating more than $3 million in client fonds. James William Sinclair, 57, a member of the bar for 30 years, was also ordered to make alniost $2.5 million restitution to 14 former clients. Mr. Sinclair bas already returned $521.000 in misappropriated fonds. According to documents from the Law Society of Upper Canada, Mr. Sinclair misappropriated fonds from 14 clients ranging from a low o) $17.017 te a bigb of $789.149 between May 1998 and Jonc 2000). Mr. Sinclair basn't been wîîrking as a lawyer since July 2001. The Law Society of Canada launcbed ais investigation into complaints from Mr. Sinclair's clients in May 2(X). Mr. Sinclair purcbased the Milton law practice of Tom Holden, a retired lawyer, in 1992 sud sobsequently sold the assets of H-olden sud Sinclair Io Douglas Quini. lu addition to the restitution order.
