SARS Update Since the outbreak af Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in Ontario, lite within aur HHS Hospitals has been anything but routine. HHS continues to be part of a province-wide SARS containment strategy. With no SARS cases at either hospital, we have cautiously maved toward a more normal level of healthcare services at both sites. This includes a graduai reinstatement of elective surgeries and outpatient visits. n addition, the visiting poiicy at both OTMH and MDH has been adjusted to, alow for the toliowing: - Oniy one visitor per patient at any one time , Limited visiting hours: 5:00 -- 9:00 p.m. on weekdays, 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. on weekends Ail visitors must pass the SARS screening process and wash their hands when entering and ieaving the hospital. As has been the case since March 29th, 2003, vsitors who meet the origi- nal special consideration criteria (parent vsiting child, support person for women in labour, patients in ICU and criticaiiy and terminaiiy il patients) wili have no time restrictions placed on their visits. We are sti11 maintaining separate staff and public entrances/exits, and everyone entering the Hospitais wiii stili be thoroughly screened. We realize that this situation has been difficuit for everyone. We would lîke to thank our Hospital staff for their dedication to the quality patient care we offer at both our sites. We wouid aiso like to thank everyone in the community. Your patience during the past few weeks is greatiy appreciat- ed. How We Love Our Volunteers!
