It was thse satisfaction of a job well done, and an extreme appreciation for a group of dedicated Milton volunteers - ail wrappcd up in sonme very good news. Rccently, this good news was releascd to the Public. The United Way of Milton announced that it exceeded its goal of $350.000 for thse 2002 Annual Campaign by $30,000, raising a total of $380,000. "One of thse best things about excecding our goal is that we exceeded it before Christrnas. Thats an ainazmng thing. Others are juat now acbieving their goals," said Anne Eadie, executive director of the United Way of Milton. I was ecstatic. It made my Christunas and New Year vacation even sweeter." This is the third year in a row that thse United Way of Milton bas exceeded its goal, but tIis year's victory is ail thse more impressive. "We havent exceeded our goal ina any year by that amouist. It was a great achievement,' Ms Eadie sald, adding, It wasn't easy." The United Way ralses money and then alocates it to organizations that can prove tiscir ability to use tise funds ina a worthy [nrser. Multons United Way funds 25 local social serv- ice organizations, including Big Sisters of Norths Halton, Big Brothers of Halton, the Canadian Institute for thse BlindI, and thse Milton brancis of the Canadian Red Cross Society. Ms Eadie said sise attribues thse success of tic 2002 camnpaigra to thse generosity of Milton resi- dents with tiseir time and money. Volunteers are absolutely vital to tise organiza- tions success, she said, especiaily since tise United Way of Milton employs only one fifl-tirne staff member - Ms Eadie .- plus one part-time and one sbort-term worker.
