UNDEFEATED! That's exactly what our senior boy's basketball team is so far in this season's league play. They took out the other undefeated team, Iroquois Ridge, their last gaine with a scnre of 69-56 and are first place in the division. On Wednesday they faced off against Q.E. Park, along with their counterparts, the midget and junior teains. Next week will see them gomng up against King's Christian College, and then on Wednesday they wiIl invite E.C. Drury here. Good luck goes out to ail of the boys and their efforts at remamning on top. The Mustang Sports Central now has several other pieces of information about our athietes. On Wednesday tihe girl's hockey teain had a gaine, along with the girl's volleyball team. The boy's hockey teamn had a game against Q.E. Park on Wednesday, which they hopefully won after December l9th's loss against Oakville Trafalgar. Yesterday they played Appleby and we wish them luck in the next few gaines that they have. So now our teaxus are in full swing, and who knows what second semester will bring. In two more weeks we'll have exams, and we will ail] do the best we can. Check out the school web page for updated inf. and we'll see you next week because now we have to go. http:llmil.hdsb.ca "TUEra RoiAL REiPOmRT" Jaina Masclanonlo Meoedlh Mwphly DISEOPR NEDINU MISE SCIGOL The long awaited end of semester one is fast approaching. Unfortunately, it ends with the studying and sleepless nights that always accompany every dreaded EXAM. Fret flot my friends, whether it's Chemistry, English, or Calculus, there must be some light at the end of the tunnel? The key to success, or comple- tion anyway, is optimism. Keep this "Mere and Jenna" strategy safe in the back of your mmnd: "each day spent sitting in class, study- ing, or writing exains, is one day closer to SUMMER BREAK!!" Although it seems so far far far away, it's the students' only visible light if there reaiiy is an end to, the metaphori- cal tunnel. While attempting to fulfili your obligation to complete high school, it would be a wise decision to catch a Boys Basketball game.* They made some light of their own Monday night. The Junior Boys lit up the scoreboard against Kings Christian College defeating them 80-18. The entire teamn was left glowing having seen the significant contributions unmistakably made by every member of the team. The Senior Boys quickly put out any spark of hope KCC had of winning. The Royals took the game 79-10. BR's athletes are constantly improving. The Girls' Volleyball teams tunnel vision allowed them to focus on the task at hand as they steamrolled their opponients. So if the day seems dark, boring and full of books, books, and more books come watch Reding's athletes light up your life for an evening. GO ROYALS GO! BR's Fact of the Week: Seikan is the world's Iongest railway tunnel, spanning a length of 53.9 km, located in Japan. DATELINE DRUIET Julhanna airke overadGmbly Jordan Lwnb So Crsra soeadwhat have we done, another year over, anotherjust begun... Welcome to 2003, we at Dnuy have left 2002 behind us in our wake; ending the year humbly by gathering a wide variety of supplies and gifts for local families, an annual event enti- tled Adopt-a-Family. Now, remembering the gooti andi leav- ing the stresses behind us, it is a tiine for new beginnings and a fresh new start. We hope that you had an eventful holiday and a memorable new year's; we suie tii! H-opefully one of your new year's resolutions was to start stutiying early for exams that are two weeks away anti counting. Now that we've put the hotitiays behinti us, there are no more excuses to put off stutiying. Now is your time to put in that effort that you've just been waiting to unleash. Maybe the extra work: will psy off when you get into the University or College where you will be spending the next three to five years of your life. Make sure tisat you get your University applications in by January 1 Sth and your College applications by Februany 1 st, otherwise you may end up regretting it, -and spentiing another year with your loving, but inquiiing parents. About your future goals. one of the most important ques- tions tiat you should ask yourself is, 'Where do 1 see myself in thie next couple of years?" It is important to have an ides of the direction you want your life to take, and more iinportantly, set goals which will enable you to realize your tireams. Anti don't worry, there are tons of people who have absolutely no ides whst the future boltis for thein. So don't feel like you're the only one unsure of lis/her future. There's no tiine like the present to start thinking about your future educstion. Talk to your guidance counselors or family members, juso to help you bring things into perspective.
