MILTON ......... j The Canadian Champion, Thursday, December 26, 2002-8 - - - - - 'Pasqualinos back in the restaurant business after opening café and bistro on Main Street By FANNIE SUNSHINE The Champion T he owners of Pasqualmro Café and Bistro have yet to formally advertise their b usiness and have already had to .Q tum people away.4 Domenic and Maria Pasquaino opened the Italian restau- C af 'è rant at Main and Martin streets November 4, after searching for almost three years for the perfect location. "Being on Main Street wasn't as important as being in Milton," Mr. Pasqualmno said, adding he and his wife stum- bled upon the location while shopping in the area. "lt just so happened this space became available. We'rc very happy with the location because of the exposure. A lot of people walk down this street. And our back entrance on Mary Street is convenient for parking." The fmne dining establishment offers contemporary Italian cuisine, aiong with Canadian cuisine, in a simple yet elegant envirornment. Its predominantly Italian but 1 like to feature Canadian products, ike Atlantic salmon," he said. Like small towns The Pasquainos have prior experience in the restaurant business, having owned a similar style restaurant in Thunder Bay. "We wanted to live in a small town and Marias parents are here (Milton) so we decided to move here seven years ago," Mr. Pasquaino said. In the short tume the restaurant has been open, the Pasqualinos said business has gone beyond their expecta- tions. Its been very good, excellent," Mr. Pasquaino said. "Our lunches are very busy and our dinners have been good. We've had to turm people away. There haven't been any slow days." Mr. Pasquaino said the pasta, fish and veal have been popular entrées, and he's looking to expand the wine list. f Casual but classy He said he believes his restaurant is unique from other Italian eateries because of the moderate prices and fresh food. Its a casual but classy atmosphere. We have a variety of coffees and desserts and our customers have said they've enjoyed our fresh pastas, the variety of the menu and the quality of the food," he said.
