OUR READERS WRITE THE CANADIAN CHAMPION Christmas House Tour a success: organizer Dear Editor: As promised after lasi year's tour, the United Way of Milton's Christmas House Tour committee successfully worked to overcome long line-ups and has regained the status of "the Christmas tour with- out the line-ups." More than 1,000 ticket holders viewed the six houses with virtual- ly no more than a five-minute wait. The day tour, evening bus tour, new cars in the house driveways (courtesy of Wallace and Milton Chrysler), advertising in the ticket brochure, lunch at the Harrop and the raffle items provided by Cyril Steven Interiors allowed us to make a profit of $30,000. The interior and exterior decora- tors spent considerable energy and expense to showcase their skills and provide a product for the ticket holders' enjoyment. I'd like to rec- ognize the generosity of the fol- lowing companies: Diane Keith Decorating & Display Consultant. Danielle's Florals, Taylor Nurseries, Dorland-Haight Galleries Inc., Kalena Flowers, Craft Tree, Marantha Log House, Crispin's. A Country Mile, The Root of 1t All, Springridge Farm, Van Dongen's Tree Farm, Pickets & Primrose, Crawfords Country Gardens, Real Life Interiors, Beverly Grant Interiors, Fern Ridge Landscaping, Pure Interiors and Country Depot. To minimize decorating costs, the decorators borrow from the community. If an item can't be bor- rowed, a discount is sought. The following businesses provided items that aided in producing the spectacular Christmas decors: Di Girolamo Greenhouses, Langholm Nurseries & Garden Centre, Clembrook Christmas Farm, Bello'cchio, James Campbell Christmas Exteriors, A Clean Break. Halton Hills Window Cleaning, Roto-Static Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, Marcucci Costume Rentals & Sales, Milton Players, J.P. Tree Farm. Infusion Catering & Event Design, Nurseland Farm, Sure-Lock, Tielemans Interiors, Terry Rowley Mechanical, Emerald Isle, Unique Frame + Art, Main Street Lighting, Lotts n' Lots, Hunter Lords, Bailey's Heating & Cooling, Delacourts, Swiss Chalet, Subway and Bergsma's Home Decor. The homeowners were obliging and the United Way appreciates their participation. As stated on our ticket, produced by Quik X Transportation Inc. and printed by a benefactor who wishes to remain anonymous, if a homeowner, florist or decorator would like to participate in the 2003 Tour, please call the United Way office now at (905) 875-2550. as planning the tour takes almost a year. I'd like to thank this great com- munity of Milton and the many tour committee members for mak- ing this fundraiser a success.
