Last month 's vote over the reconsideration of the smoking ban was s0 wrought with procedural errors that councillors held a second, recorded vote on the issue Monday. I was in error in calling that challenge of the chair. You were absolutely right in calling for that recorded vote," Mayor Gord Krantz told Councillor Barry Lee, referring to an inappropriate denial of a recorded vote during last month's coun- cil meeting. The motion to reconsider the bylaw died 6-5. Throwing their support behind the reconsidera- tion motion were councillors Ron Furik, Rick Day. Art Melanson, Mr. Lee and Mayor Krantz. In opposition were councillors Ken Keates, ,Children hurt in bus crash Five children were taken to hospital as a result of a collision between two Tyler Transport Ltd. sehool buses at the intersection of No. 25 Sideroad at Fifth Line Tuesday momning. I-aIton police say at 8:25 a.m. the driver of a bus southbound on Fifth Line heading to St. Josephs Sehool in Acton carrying 12 chiîdren aged 8 to 12 years failed to, stop for a stop sign and colîided with a bus travelling eastbound on No. 25 Sideroad. There were no children on that bus. The southbound bus ended up on its side and one child suffered a broken nose whiîe another had a fractured arm. Five children were taken to Georgetown Hospital. Three were uninjured and two were treated and released. Neither driver was injured. A 42-year-old Milton man bas been charged with disobeying a stop sign. Bingo Country has also been given until January 2004 to construct a designated smoking roomn and private clubs are completely exempt. Removal of the exemptions would be a step in the right direction but enforcement is the real issue, said Roger Mason, co-owner of The Diekens Restaurant.
