Halton Water & Wastewater Master Plan Revlew Class Environmefltal Assessmeflt The Halton Urban Structure Plan, as accepted in June 1999, identifies that, by the year 2016, the population of Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton His wili increase significantly with a total residential population of 538,000 persons and an employee population of 258,000. A review of three major Master Plans for water and wastewater services to service growth in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and the Halton Huis Highway 401 corridor has been completed in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Process. The project team, consisting of regional staff and the selected engineering consultant (KMK Consultants Limited) has evaluated the capacity of the existing water and wastewater infrastructure and identified that additional capacity and facilities are required to service the projected growth and protect and enhance the security and reliability of Haltons water and wastewater systems. Several alternative servicing strategies were identified and evaiuated taking into consideration environmental and social impacts as well as financial considerations and a preferred Master Plan solution has been selected. The preferred Master Plan incorporates comments received from the public and agencies during the course of the study.
