»-Thousands of visitors expected for fail fair By FANNIE SUNSHINE The Champion More than 100 volunteers have been busy setting up halls and exhibits for the 149th Milton Fait Fair- this weekend. The fair, presented by the Halton Agricutural Society, will take place at the Milton Fair- Grounds, 139 Robert St. "Our grand opening will be the Friday with the school childi-en," said Nancy Comber, secretary-treasurer of the Haton Agricultus-al Society. She said she expects 18,000 10 20,000 visitors te, parade through the fair- grounds that weekend. "The Demoition Derby il definitely a popular event," she continued. "People can stili enter their cars in the derby for a fée of $30. The Grandstand can hold 800 people and we bring in extra bleachers for tis event." I the spirit of the theme for this year's fair- - Chicken - children will have the chance 10 decorate a t-shirt for Chicken Charlie and dress their pet dog or cat up like the bas- yard animai during the Pet Show. The fun will start off Friday with school tours from 9:30 a.m. 10 3 p.m. The exhibits will be open 10 the public from 3 10 9 p.m. A Barrel Racing Show will take place in Horse Ring #1 at 5 p.m. The Open Junior Dais-y Show in No. 1 Barn will start aI 7 p.m., followed by the Demolition Derby - a speciai roîl-over and four cylinder competition - aI 8 p.m. The exhibits will be open Saturday from 9 arn. to 8 p.m. The Pet Show will take place aI 10 arn. in the Exhibition Theatre, followed by the Heavy Horse Show in Ring #2 at 10:30 arn. The Truck and Tractor Pull and Youth Beef Show will alto take place aI 10:30 ar. At t11 arn., the Halton 4-H Dais-y Caîf Club Achievement Day will take place aI No. t Bas-n along with the Caboose (old lime country music) on the infield stage. The Beef Show will take place aI 12:30 p.m., followed by the Kiddies Pedal Tractor Pull aI 2 p.m. The H-amilton Tiger Cal Dancers will take centre stage aI 5:30 p.m., followed by the Demolition Derby at 8 p.m. The faisgrounds will be open from 10 ar..10 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The Horse Show will begin at 10 arn., followed by a Sheep Show at il ar. The Kiddies Pedal Tractor Pull Track will begin aI noon, followed by the Demolition Derby at 2 p.m. Admission mbt the grounds costs $7 for adults and $3 for children aged 6 10 12 years. Children under 3 years of age are admitted free.
